Subdivisions and Specialized Units


1. PURPOSE


Specialized units exist to support patrol, address crime trends, conduct follow-up investigations, and handle high-risk operations. Specialized assignment is a privilege, not a right.

2. GET - GANG ENFORCEMENT TEAM


GET is a uniformed saturation patrol team. GET handles:
A. Gang suppression.
B. High-visibility patrol.
C. Gang area saturation.
D. Traffic stops related to gang enforcement.
E. Probation/parole support.
F. Patrol support on violent crime trends.

3. OSS DETAIL


OSS Detail consists of standard detectives typically marked by raid jackets during enforcement. OSS handles:
A. Follow-up reports.
B. Enforcement operations.
C. Warrants.
D. Investigative support.
E. Case preparation.
F. Detective callouts.

4. GSU - GANG SUPPRESSION UNIT


GSU consists of plain-clothes detectives assigned to:
A. Sting operations.
B. Gang investigations.
C. Warrants.
D. Surveillance.
E. Undercover operations.
F. Violent offender targeting.

5. PCT - PAROLE COMPLIANCE TEAM


PCT is a uniformed unit focused on:
A. Saturation enforcement.
B. Gang-affiliated parolees.
C. Compliance checks.
D. Warrant service.
E. Probation/parole operations.

6. TRANSIT PATROL SERVICES


Uniformed deputies assigned to Metro rail and bus systems. Responsibilities:
A. Station security.
B. Passenger assistance.
C. Fare enforcement support.
D. Crime suppression.
E. High-visibility patrol.
F. Platform patrol.

7. TRANSIT DETECTIVES


Investigators assigned to crimes on Metro property, including:
A. Assaults.
B. Robberies.
C. Thefts.
D. Follow-up investigations.
E. Video/evidence review.

8. K9 UNIT


K9 provides:
A. Explosive detection.
B. Patrol support.
C. Station sweeps.
D. High-risk transit response.
E. Crowd control assistance.
F. Search operations.

9. CRIME IMPACT TEAMS


Targeted enforcement teams focused on repeat offenders and crime trends. Duties:
A. Directed patrol.
B. Compliance checks.
C. Gang enforcement.
D. Special operations.
E. Saturation patrol.

10. SPECIAL EVENTS / RAIL OPERATIONS


Handles:
A. Crowd management.
B. Rail platform security.
C. Traffic/pedestrian coordination.
D. Emergency response coordination.
E. Metro and allied agency coordination.

11. SEB-STYLE TACTICAL OPERATIONS


Tactical response for barricades, hostage calls, high-risk warrants, armed suspects, and major incidents. Deployment requires command approval unless immediate emergency exists.

12. SPECIALIZED UNIT CONDUCT


Members assigned to specialized units must maintain professionalism. Plain-clothes or tactical status does not authorize unrealistic behavior, unnecessary force, or bypassing command.
